Mount Aloysius College Grads Head to Med School, Pharmacy School

Cresson, Pa. - Two Mount Aloysius College grads will be heading for medical school and another to pharmacy school next fall. Attending medical school will be Mr. Daniel Conner and Mr. Derek Harshaw. Ms. Alysa Conway is heading to pharmacy school.

Daniel Robert Connor of Altoona graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Mr. Connor, a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society, will attend West Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Ms. Alysa Janelle Conway of Phillipsburg is a summa cum laude graduate earning the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She is also a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma and an Honors Program graduate. She will be attending The Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy.    

Mr. Derek Christopher Harshaw of Nanty Glo is a magna cum laude graduate of Mount Aloysius, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Mr. Harshaw was named to Delta Epsilon Sigma and was an Honors Program graduate at Mount Aloysius College.

Mount Aloysius President Tom Foley saluted the efforts of the students and noted that the achievement was a first for the College. “We applaud the intellectual efforts of these fine students,” he said, “and the close relationship with our Science and Math faculty and our student advisors who encouraged them in their goal of attending medical and pharmacy school. We are all very proud of their accomplishment.”

Dr. Merrilee Anderson, chairman of the Science and Math Department said, “The Science Department is proud to have these three students as ambassadors of Mount Aloysius College as Dan and Derek enter Medical school and Alysa enters Pharmacy school.” She added, ”they are hard workers who also personify the spirit of Mount Aloysius with their service to others and dedication to learning."
