The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team held the majority of possession and created a number of scoring opportunities, but the Mounties couldn't find the back of the net in a 1-0 conference loss to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon. The Mounties came out firing early and created a number of corner kick opportunities in the first half, but they couldn't convert. Freshman midfielder Daniel Oliveira was off target on two long-range shots, and junior defender Zach Whittington's diving shot attempt off of a corner went just wide. Pitt-Bradford made the Mount pay for their missed chances. In the 63rd minute, Clint Corman deflected in a corner to provide the visitors with a 1-0 advantage. The Mount had a golden opportunity a few minutes later when Joey Moxey flicked a ball on to the back post, but Xavier Cardona's shot was blocked. Oliveira led the Mount with 5 shots, and sophomore Austin Old registered 3 shots on the day. Junior goalkeeper Jamie Greenwood stopped 8 shots for the Mounties. |
