Cresson, Pa. – Aaaaaaagh! That’s what you’ll be saying if you don’t mark your calendar for the Mount Aloysius College Theatre Department’s production of “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.” Based on the “Peanuts” comic strip by Charles Shultz, the family favorite is scheduled for a four-day run from Thursday, March 14th through Sunday, March 17th in historic Alumni Hall at Mount Aloysius College. The Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:30 p.m. The curtain goes up on the matinee, Sunday, March 17th at 1:30 p.m. Area students including college students, high school students are admitted free. Adults admissions is $5.00.

Mount Aloysius Associate Professor of Theatre, Nathan Magee discussed the history of the show. “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” is nearing the half century mark as a viable staple of American Theatre,” he said. “On March 7, 1967 the musical, written by Clark Gesner, premiered at Theatre 80, an off-Broadway venue in New York’s East Village. The original cast featured featuring Gary Burghoff as Charlie Brown, Skip Hinnant as Schroeder, Reva Rose as Lucy, Bob Balaban as Linus, Karen Johnson as Patty and Bill Hinnant as Snoopy.”

Mr. Magee explained that the original show was directed by Joseph Hardy and choreographed by Patricia Birch. Joe Raposo, who later was a Sesame Street regular, was Music Director and composer of incidental music for the show. “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” is recommended for all audience,” he said. “Arrive about 30-minutes early for a really great seat.”

The Mount Aloysius cast members include: Tim Michrina as Charlie brown; Tyler Pine as Schroeder; Kayln Blake as Sally; Linus is played by Kristy Daniel; Lyndsey Griffith will portray Lucy, and Pam Young is Snoopy. The Charlie Brown Ensemble will be completed by Evan Standley, Dana Hochstien and Cassie Lieb.
