This year’s celebrity, Chris Hoke, was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent after the 2001 NFL Draft. Named by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as one of the Steelers great backup players, Chris retired in 2012 after 11 seasons with the black and gold. As an undrafted rookie, he faced long odds of making the team but persevered and made a career out of clogging the line of scrimmage. Described by teammates and opponents as a tough guy, Chris embarked upon a decade of dependability and two Super Bowls even though he endured serious neck and knee injuries. Indeed, the Steelers had a combined regular season record of 19-1 when he started. In 2004, ESPN declared that Hoke played “spectacularly” in helping the team to a 15-1 record. After retiring, Chris has both coached at the high school level and performed work for various media outlets. He and wife, Jaimee, live in Pittsburgh are and are the proud parent of five children.
