The Mount Aloysius College Center for Entrepreneurship and Service (CES) is focused on creating quality outreach opportunities for our students to make a positive impact in the communities of our geographical region. This involves inspiring and enabling innovation among our students, and developing strategic alliances with local businesses, nonprofit agencies, and government offices. Such activities allow us to extend the spirit of entrepreneurship to the College's undergraduate research, service learning, and internship programs.
The following paragraphs briefly describe the approaches taken by the CES in bringing synergism to the College's efforts of combining student learning with community citizenship.
The Center for Entrepreneurship and Service at Mount Aloysius College encourages and supports student and faculty efforts in entrepreneurship, as well as entrepreneurial efforts in the region. We seek to nurture the entrepreneurial potential of our students so that they have an opportunity to become effective and responsible community and business leaders.
The CES sponsors seminars, workshops, and programs for students to become better acquainted with what it takes to develop an idea into a working business model. Such active involvement by students adds value to the learning experience.
The CES at Mount Aloysius College also links students with current regional efforts at entrepreneurship and economic development. By being intentionally collaborative with existing economic development agencies, the Center
By working with faculty and the MAC Service Learning initiative, the CES is able to help extend the opportunities for students to learn the content of their classes by applying what they learn in the classroom via meaningful community outreach and service. By identifying community needs and creatively and effectively addressing those needs, students learn not only the content of their courses, but how their ideas can be the springboard to improving life in the community.
Internships have proven themselves many times to be an effective way for students to ‘bridge' from the classroom to the workplace. The CES works with faculty and the Career Services Office to assure students have access to challenging and quality internship opportunities. Our goal is for students to learn by working with innovators and, in turn, contribute to further innovation.
