Jobs for Graduates
Currently, the entire nation is experiencing a shortage of registered nurses. Therefore, the job placement rate for graduate nurses is nearly 100 percent. Many health-care employers offer incentives for graduate nurses to accept employment, such as sign-on bonuses and educational benefits.
According to the Department of Labor Statistics, the mean annual salary for Registered Nurses in PA is $65,070 and $67,720 nationally.
The Associate Degree Nursing Program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (3343 Peachtree Road, NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326 at 1-404-975-5000)
The Associate's Degree program has received continuous accreditation since 1974. Mount Aloysius College provides an education to prepare graduates as Associate Degree Nurses, qualified to take the national Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses following graduation. Admission to the Nursing program requires a careful review of SAT and/or ACT scores for applicants who have graduated high school within the past five years. If it has been more than five years since the graduation, a passing score on a nursing entrance test is required.

Program pre-requisites include a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 16 units, including four units of English, three units of social studies, two units of mathematics, and two units of science with related laboratories (biology and chemistry are recommended.) One course in algebra, at either the high school or college level also is required. These prerequisites must have been completed with a minimum grade of “C.”
Accepted students may be admitted to courses in the nursing major in either the fall or the spring semester. Prior to beginning nursing courses, the student must complete EE 091and EE 098, if required by college placement examination, and BL 201 with a minimum grade of “C.” The Associate Degree Nursing Program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (3343 Peachtree Road, NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326 at 1-404-975-5000).
