| Game Notes: | CRESSON- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fought back from a 15-point second half deficit to stun visiting Pitt-Greensburg 62-61 in an AMCC thriller on Wednesday evening. After trailing by as many as 18 in the first half, the Mounties still struggled to find their form into the second half and faced a 46-32 deficit after a Chianti Sivek layup with 13:02 on the clock. Mount Aloysius picked it up and responded with an 18-2 run to take a 50-48 lead on an Olivia Rupp three-point shot with 6:51 to go. Pitt-Greensburg tied the ballgame on two occassions down the stretch, but Mount Aloysius held a 59-58 lead going into the game's final possessions. After the Mount's Becky Bard hit two free throws with 21 seconds remaining, Sivek nailed a huge three to tie up the ballgame at 61-61. On the Mount's final possession, Rupp was fouled. The sophomore forward had already missed two free throws 50 seconds earlier and was off on her first attempt, but nailed her second free throw to hand the Mount a crucial victory. With the win, Mount Aloysius takes over sole possession of fourth place with a conference record of 6-4. The Mount's Lindsy Sammarco was sensational with 29 points and nine rebounds while playing all 40 minutes. Rupp finished with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting, and Kaleigh Roop came off the bench to grab eight boards. Pitt-Greensburg was led by Kayla Dames, who dropped in 13 points and dished four assists. Mount Aloysius returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Medaille for a 1 p.m. tipoff. |
