CRESSON- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team extended its winning streak to three with a 72-64 win over visiting D'Youville on Sunday afternoon in AMCC play. With the win, the Mount improves to 3-3 in conference play and 7-5 overall.
The Mount was led once again by its suffocating defense, as it forced 26 turnovers on the day. Guard Alexis Restori registered seven steals to lead the effort.
The Mount's defense was tremendous early and the home side jumped out to leads of 28-13 and 39-24 in the first half before taking a 41-28 lead into the break.
The Mount held the double-digit advantage throughout the second half and led by as much as 21 on a jumper from Olivia Rupp with 5:45 to go. D'Youville went on an 8-0 run in the final 1:14, but it wasn't enough.
Lindsy Sammarco had 21 points and Becky Bard had 16 points and six rebounds for Mount Aloysius. Restori added seven assists to go along with her seven steals, and Lauryn Colmer drained three shots from behind the arc.
D'Youville was paced by 15 points and six assists from Shannon Dougherty.
Mount Aloysius returns to action on Wednesday evening at 6 pm for another conference tilt at home against PSU-Altoona.
