Game Notes

CRESSON- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team pushed their winning streak to four as they cruised to a 64-50 victory over Penn State-Altoona at home on Wednesday evening.

The Mount defense was tremendous for the third consecutive game since the New Year as they forced 30 Nittany Lion turnovers and limited the visitors to 33.3% shooting from the field. Becky Bard and Lindsy Sammarco each registered five steals to lead the defensive effort.

The Mount first pulled away in the latter stages of the first half as an 11-0 run capped by an Ashley O'Donald jumper made it 28-16 with 5:06 to play. Another jumper from Bard with two seconds left kept the advantage at 12 heading into the half.

The Mount maintained its double-digit lead throughout most of the second half. The Nittany Lions cut the deficit to seven at the 5:58 mark, but the Mounties responded with a quick 7-0 run to restore their comfortable lead.

Bard led the Mount with 18 points, while Sammarco had 16 and seven rebounds. Teddi Burkett recorded eight boards and point guard Alexis Restori dished eight assists.

Tiffany Seasoltz had a team-high 15 points for the Nittany Lions and Tamara Thomas finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Mount returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Pitt-Bradford for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
