BRADFORD- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team saw their four-game winning streak snapped as the Mounties fell 68-63 on the road to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon in AMCC conference action.
The Mount started off strong and a jumper from Olivia Rupp gave the visitors a 17-11 lead with 11:53 to play in the first half. A three-point shot from Lindsy Sammarco with 3:08 remaining gave Mount Aloysius its biggest lead of the day at 35-23, and the Mounties led by six heading into the break.
Mount Aloysius maintained the advantage in the second half as Teddi Burkett drilled a jumper with 11:15 remaining to provide a 52-41 lead. Pitt-Bradford responded with a 20-9 run over the next eight minutes to tie things at 61-61.
As time wound down, Pitt-Bradford's Alicia Kimmel hit a layup with 21 seconds left to give the home side a 65-63 lead, and the Mount's Alexis Restori was off on a jumper with eight seconds left. Pitt-Bradford secured the victory with a few free throws.
Sammarco had 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in a well-rounded effort. Becky Bard recorded 16 points and Restori had 12.
Kimmel registered 24 points and six rebounds to pace Pitt-Bradford. Geena Sneeringer had 18 points and five steals.
Women's basketball returns to action on Monday night for a 6 p.m. tipoff on the road against Franciscan.
