Game Notes: Johnstown, PA - It took 18 innings of baseball for the Mount Aloysius Mounties (3-9) and St. Vincent College Bearcats (7-2) to slit the double header; Bearcats winning game one, 6-5 in 9 innings and the Mounties winning in walkoff fashion in the bottom of the 9th, 6-5 in game two.

Playing at historic Point Stadium in downtown Johnstown the Bearcats and Mounties each used late inning rallies to win their respective games.

In the opener, The Mounties would hold a 5-4 advantage into the bottom of the seventh with Matt Aungst coming in to close it out. Aungst would walk two batters in the inning before Bearcats catcher, Erik Fitcher, hit a SAC fly to center for the tying run. In the top of the ninth center fielder, Zack Galasso, hit a bomb out to straight away center (estimated 415 feet) over the fences for the 6-5 lead. The Mounites went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth to lose game one.

More late inning extiement followed in the nightcap. For five and a half innings the Mounties couldn't find any offense. In the bottom of the sixth Kyle Rose would begin the rally with the first of five straight singles which plated three runs for the Mounties in the inning. Trailing 5-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh the Mounties were three outs away from being swept by the Bearcats. But Aaron Kovach and Bryan Nolan wouldn't go down without a fight and led off the inning with back to back tripples. Kyle Rose singled a batter later to bring Nolan around to score and tie the game at 5-5 with no outs in the bottom of the seventh. One out later the Mounties would load the bases before Christian Rivera-Negron popped up to the shortstop and Skyler Sheeder struck out swinging to take the game into extra innings.

Much like game one, seven innings of baseball wasn't enough to decide the contest. In the bottom of the ninth Mark Saxman hit a one out double to right center and David Brown was intentionally walked to bring up the eventual hero Rivera-Negron. Christian smacked a line drive up the middle and Saxman came around to score the winning run.

The Mounties will hit the road this weekend to take on Case Western Reserve in a 1:00pm doubleheader.
