Game Notes: CRESSON- An eight-run first inning in game one was a preview of the offense to come as the Mount Aloysius baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from visiting Juniata on Tuesday afternoon by the scores of 14-5 and 14-10.

The eight-run first inning featured eight hits by the Mounties. Jacob Stumpf tripled in a run, and Luke Szymanski recorded an RBI double and a two-run single as the Mount batted around the order.

Aaron Kovach, Stumpf and Cory Dick all had three hits in game one, and Stumpf drove in four runs. Leadoff hitter Ian Helsel, Kovach and Connor Bowie all scored three times.

On the mound, Christopher Nolan earned the win as he threw the first five innings while allowing one earned run and three hits. Kyle Lawson closed out the ballgame.

In the third inning, Connor Bowie gave the Mount a 7-5 advantage with a two-run home run.

The game continued to go back-and-forth as both teams were hot at the plate. With the score tied at 10-10 heading into the bottom of the ninth, the Mount loaded the bases with two singles and a hit by pitch. Bowie stepped up to the plate and delivered a grand slam to end the ballgame.

Bowie ended the game with five RBIs, and Patrick Gully drove in three runs to add to the offensive power.

Cameron Kyle earned the win on the hill with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. The Mount improves to 16-5 and extends its winning streak to 13.
