Game Notes: Myrtle Beach, SC- The Mount Aloysius baseball team won 6-5 in game one of its doubleheader with Arcadia University on Friday morning.

Facing a 4-0 deficit, the Mount exploded for five runs in the visiting fifth to take the lead. Patrick Gully drove in a run in the inning with a single, and Luke Szymanski drove in two more with a clutch two-out double.

Arcadia threatened in its last at-bat, but Kyle Cameron induced a double-play to end the game.

Ian Helsel scored two runs from the leadoff spot for the Mount, and Connor Bowie scored twice.

Derrick Capiak held on to record his second victory of the season. He threw 5.2 innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out five.

In game two, the Mount completed a two-game sweep of Arcadia with a 4-3 victory.

Down 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth, the Mount plated four runs in its next three at-bats to take a close 4-3 lead heading into the final inning. Cory Dick doubled in a run in the fourth, and Luke Szymanski added an RBI single in the fifth. Down 3-2, Jacob Stumpf came up big with a two-run double in the sixth to give the Mount the lead.

Brady Ring then earned the win for the Mounties as he retired Arcadia in its final at-bat.

The Mount concludes its spring break trip with a 6-3 record and now stands at 6-5 overall. The Mounties will be back in action on Thursday, March 14th with an away contest at Saint Vincent.
