Game Notes: Kingston, PA - The Mount Aloysius college baseball team split a doubleheader with Wilkes in non-conference action on Monday afternoon. After falling in game one by the score of 7-2, the Mounties responded with an 11-8 win in game two to earn their 20th win of the season.

Ian Helsel got the Mount off to a quick start in game one with a solo home run in the game's first at-bat. However, Wilkes responded with four runs in the second inning. The home side added three more runs in their next two at-bats to take a commanding 7-1 lead on their way to the win.

Jacob Stumpf had a 2-for-3 showing at the plate, while Brock Gladfelter added an RBI in the seventh inning.

Daniel Resavy was handed the loss for the Mount. Kyle Lawson and Helsel were effective in relief, as the two combined to pitch 2.2 innings while allowing just one hit and no runs.

Game Notes(DH): In game two, the Mountie bats came alive in the second inning. Jesse Bortner provided the highlight of the five-run inning with a two-run home run.

Already ahead 7-4 heading into the fifth inning, the Mount added four more runs to their cushion with a two-out rally. Luke Szymanski walked after the bases were loaded to bring in a run, then Aaron Kovach came up big with a double down the left-field line that cleared the bases and made it 11-4.

Wilkes responded with four runs of its own in their next at-bat, but Brad Ewing was strong closing out the game in the final two innings for the Mount.

Greg Wierzbicki earned the win in game two to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Szymanski finished game two with four RBIs, and Kovach had a 2-for-4 showing at the plate. Brock Gladfelter went 3-for-3 with three runs scored to aid the offensive attack.

The Mount improves to 20-11 overall heading into two important AMCC doubleheaders, at LaRoche on Wednesday and at Medaille on Saturday.
