Erie, PA - With a chance to advance to the conference championship game, the Mount Aloysius College baseball fell into an early hole and lost 11-2 to Penn State-Behrend on Friday morning.
Behrend scored four runs in its first two at-bats to take command early, and exploded for six more runs in the home fifth to take a 10-0 advantage.
The Mount got two runs back in the visiting sixth. With the bases loaded after three consecutive singles, Patrick Gully brought in a run with an RBI groundout. Luke Szymanski followed with a double that brought in Aaron Kovach to make it 10-2.
The Mount couldn't muster any more offense as they only got one runner on base in their remaining three at-bats.
Kovach and Szymanski both recorded 2-for-4 days at the plate.
With the loss, the Mount will now have an elimination game with LaRoche this afternoon. The winner will advance to face Behrend in the championship game tomorrow.
