| Five Mounties Baseball Players Earn All-Conference Honors | 05/15/2012 |
![]() CRESSON--Five Mount Aloysius baseball players have been named to the AMCC All-Conference team.
Senior pitcher Mike Godissart (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge H.S.), junior infielder Aaron Kovach (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg H.S.), and junior outfielder Jacob Stumpf (Big Run, Pa./Punxsutawney H.S.) were all second team selections.
Godissart led the conference in strikeouts and went 5-8 on the season with a 4.79 ERA. He was twice named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week this year. Godissart was a third team all-conference selection in 2010 and 2011.
Kovach batted .397 on the season, which ranked him fifth in the AMCC and first for the Mounties. He also led the team in slugging percentage (.539), on-base percentage (.482), hits (56), and RBIs (35).
Stumpf led the Mounties in homeruns (4) and doubles (12). He had a .322 batting average and was also second on the team in RBIs (32).
Sophomore third baseman Lucas Szymanski (Ford City, Pa./Ford City H.S.) and freshman first baseman Cory Dick (Glassboro, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) both garnered third team all-conference honors.
Szymanski topped the Mounties in stolen bases (23) and runs (43). He ranked third in the conference in stolen bases. Szymanski was also recognized as the AMCC's player of the week on May 7.
Dick hit .299 on the year, but was steller for the Mounties over the final weeks of the season. He came through with several timely hits in the team's post-season run and was a major contributor to the Mounties advancing for the first time in the program's history to the AMCC Championship game. He started all 47 games for the Mounties as a true freshman.
