Ebensburg, PA - Mount Aloysius College junior, Dylan Link (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll), placed first in his college’s own invitational held at Ebensburg Country Club, Sunday, September 8th.
Link placed first medalist hitting four under par. Mount Aloysius College won the team contest with a score of 311, besting Penn State- Behrend. Penn State-Behrend was two shots back with a score of 313 (scores are based on the best four rounds from each team.)
Link and his teammates placed first out of eight teams, seven of which belong to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).
Link’s teammates backed his remarkable score. His Mount Aloysius College team included: junior Zack Morgan (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria); junior Joe Nazareck (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carroll); and senior Chris Arena (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop). Their scores were respectable 79, 80, and 85 respectively.
But this day belonged to Dylan Link. “He (Dylan Link) had to be that good for us to pull off the team victory,” said head coach Jeff Homady, who also serves as head golf professional at Ebensburg Country Club. “He knows the course well and attacked it all day long.”
Mount Aloysius Golf returns to action at Penn-State Altoona, Monday, September 9th. The team hopes to duplicate their performance at the regular season’s concluding AMCC championships, Sunday, October 13th, location TBA.
