| Game Notes: | CRESSON- With their third AMCC victory in five days, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team took over sole possession of first place in conference with a 74-63 victory over rival Penn State-Altoona at home on Wednesday evening. Demetrius Davis had a game-high 23 points, including 5-for-9 from behind the arc, and five rebounds. Also finishing in double figures for the Mount were Jeff Stem (13), Dameon Turner (12) and Kyle Baughman (11). Clint Wagner handed out a game-high six assists. Davis was fantastic early as he registered 12 of the first 14 Mount Aloysius points with four shots from behind the arc. However, it was the Nittany Lions that controlled play early. Jordan Wells drew contact while making a layup and hit the free throw to give the visitors a 26-16 lead with 6:53 remaining. The Mount chipped away slowly and a layup by Davario Barksdale just before the half gave Mount Aloysius a 30-29 edge heading into the break. The game remained close until a 12-2 spurt capped by a Baughman lay-in with 10:49 left gave the Mount a 53-43 lead. The advantage got no smaller than seven down the stretch. Wells paced the Nittany Lions with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Gehret was next in line with 18, and John Brennan also had a double-double effort with 10 points and 10 boards. The Mounties also had a 24-5 edge in bench points. Men's basketball returns to action Saturday with a trip to Pitt-Bradford. |
