FROSTBURG, Md.—Mount Aloysius improved to 5-1 on the season with a 91-85 win over Frostburg State.

Mount Aloysius struggled from three-point range, shooting just 3-16 from the behind the arc. They were successful at getting to the basket, however, and shot 53% overall from the field.

Mount Aloysius held a 24-37 lead at the break, but exploded with 9-0 run to early in the second half. The Mounties’ lead would stand at 14 with just 2 minutes to go in the game, before Frostburg hit several three-pointers in the final minutes to pull within 3 points.

Solid free throw shooting on Mount Aloysius’ part, however, secured the victory.

Tanner Thomas came off the bench to lead Mount Aloysius with a career-high 28 points. Jeff Stem added 21 points and Dameon Turner had 15 points.

Christian Jackson topped Frostburg with 21 points. Mount Aloysius held Jackson, Frostburg’s leading scorer with a 26.0 ppg average, without a single field goal in the first half.
