MARILYN BEARER

06-07 CC Bearer headshotMarilyn Bearer is in her fifth year as head coach of the Mounties men's and women's cross country teams, and is the program's first ever coach.

Bearer's coaching philosophy includes: educating student-athletes on the benefits of exercise and injury prenvention, building a foundation for lifetime running and exercise, and having fun working to the best of your ability! 

A native of Butler, PA, Bearer is a gradu.ate of Slippery Rock University with a BS in Exercise Science. While there, she was a four-time letter winner in both track and field and cross country. She was a record holder in the 4 x 400 meter relay and a member of the "Rock's" 1995 Division II National Qualifying Cross Country team.

She is still an active runner, who trains regularly for local road races and marathons.

Bearer is a special education teacher, and she has previously coached track and field at Northern Cambria High School and Tichland High School.

She resides outside of Prince Gallitzen State Park, with her husband Don, her two dogs, and her three cats.

National Honor Society Inducts New Members 04-11-2008
Mount Aloysius College recently held the annual Phi Theta Kappa and Delta Epsilon Sigma induction ceremony. A total of 21 students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and 38 students were inducted into the Delta Epsilon Sigma honor society.

Josip Mocnik, Library Director at Mount Aloysius, Earns Ph.D. in History 04-01-2008
Dr. Josip Mocnik, Library Director at Mount Aloysius College, will be awarded his Ph.D. in History from Bowling Green State University in May 2008. Dr. Mocnik’s goal is to be more engaged in teaching and he plans to teach courses on the history of American foreign relations and the history of Eastern Europe.
