After two close losses, the Mount Aloysius men's soccer team got back on track with a 6-0 win over PSU-New Kensington on Thursday afternoon. The Mounties offense exploded for 24 shots, led by a game-high 8 shots from freshman midfielder Daniel Oliveira. Defensively, Mount Aloysius and goalie Jamie Greenwood picked up its second shutout of the season. Mount Aloysius jumped on the home side early with a pair of goals in the first eight minutes courtesy of freshman Nathan Bain and sophomore Austin Old. With ten minutes to go in the half freshman midfielder Patrick Chea found Oliveira on a through ball, which he calmly deposited in the back of the net for a 3-0 lead heading into the half. Nine minutes into the second half, the Mounties struck again. Old lofted a beautiful pass to the streaking Chea, who chipped the Lions goalkeeper to give the Mount a 4-0 advantage. Freshman striker Joey Moxey finished up the scoring with his first two goals of the season, and Mount Aloysius held on to the shutout. Chea and Oliveira led the Mount scoring attack with one goal and two assists each. Junior defender Zach Whittington had a solid game leading the Mountie backline. "The boys came out hungry today and it showed early on," assistant coach Matt Davis said. "They battled some adverse conditions to get their first road win of the season in a complete team effort."
