In another close AMCC affair, the Mount Aloysius men's soccer team lost 2-1 on the road to D'Youville on Saturday night. After a scoreless first half in which the Mount had the majority of the scoring chances, D'Youville came out firing in the second period. About seven minutes into play, D'Youville's Mate Tarr lifted a shot over a charging Jamie Greenwood to give the home side a 1-0 lead. At the 74:16 mark, they expanded the lead to 2-0 on a goal by Neil Janes. Just four minutes later, freshman midfielder Daniel Oliveira took a pass from Curtis Brumbaugh and ripped a shot from 30 yards out that beat the D'Youville keeper to make it a 2-1 game. The Mount charged forward in the last ten minutes for the equalizer but were unable to convert. Senior Curtis Brumbaugh recorded a team-high seven shots for the Mount, while Oliveira registered five shots and Xavier Cardona had three. Greenwood had 10 saves between the pipes. |
