| Game Notes: | Pittsburgh, PA – The Mount Aloysius Mounties softball (16-8, 10-2) team split a road series at AMCC opponent La Roche College, 2-6 and 13-2. With the split the Mounties move into a tie with Pitt-Bradford (10-2 in conference) for first place in the AMCC mid-way through conference play. Mt. Aloysius dropped the opener 6-2 with a lack of offensive consistency plaguing them throughout game one. Whitney Giedroc provided the only scoring for the Mounties in the contest with a first inning home run, her second of the season, to drive in Amy Miller. The Redhawks (10-9, 3-5) added 5 runs in the fourth to take the lead at the eventual final score of 6-2. The offense came alive for the Mounties, as it has done all season, in the second game of the double header. Twelve hits led to 13 runs as Mt. Aloysius cruised to the 13-2 victory in five innings of game two. Jena Isenberg provided 7 RBI’s off of 2 hits in the contest with a grand slam home run in the fourth and a bases clearing double in the fifth. Jess Seasoltz was in the circle to pick up her 10th win of the season. She also continued her torrid hitting streak as she went 1-1 with 2 walks; in 9 at bats this season she has 4 hits and 3 walks (.778 on base percentage). The Mounties will continue their road trip this Saturday at Penn State-Behrend in Erie, PA for a scheduled 1:00pm double header. |
