| Game Notes: | Buffalo, NY--The Mount Aloysius softball team secured the top seed in the AMCC tournament and the regular season championship, by defeating Medaille College 2-0 in game one of their season finale series. The Lady Mounties took an early 1-0 lead, when second baseman Amy Miller scored on a Medaille overthrow in the top of the first inning. Renee Schmidt scored the second Mount Aloysius run in the sixth inning. Schmidt starting the inning off with a base hit, and advanced home as the result of several Lady Maverick throwing errors. Megan Brown earned the win for Mount Aloysius. Medaille took game two, 5-3. The game was tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, when Kristen Rohe scored off of a Laura Mauger base hit. Katie Gibbons hit a sacrifice fly on the ensuing at bat, which brought in Liz Lawless to make the final score 5-3. As the top seed, Mount Aloysius earns the right to host the 2010 AMCC Softball Championship Tournament, which begins May 7th. |
