Game Notes: Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team was defeated by the scores of 2-1 and 6-5 by Penn State-Behrend in an AMCC doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

Game one featured a pitcher's duel between the Mount's Kelsey Ickes and Behrend's Julie Heinl. Both pitchers put forth complete-game efforts. Ickes surrendered seven hits and two earned runs while Heinl gave up five hits and one earned run for the game.

The Mount struck first in the home third as Lindsy Sammarco led off the inning by going deep for a solo home run. Behrend responded with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 2-1 advantage. Sammarco led off the Mount's final at-bat with a single, but was stranded at second base as Heinl retired the next three hitters.

Game Notes(DH): Game two featured an extra inning affair between the two sides. Behrend scored once in the visiting seventh to force extras, and again in their first at-bat of extra innings.

In the Mount's final at-bat, Morgan Paynter reached third but was thrown out at home on a groundball to third base.

Sammarco and Kiersten Lorditch both recorded triples in game two for the Mount. Lorditch's triple in the sixth brought in three runs, and she scored on a passed ball to give the home team a 5-4 lead.

Meagan Thomas had a 2-for-2 showing with a walk and a run scored.

The Mounties now sit at 5-5 overall and 17-8 in conference and will travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday.
