With the sweep the Mounties (19-9, 13-3) remain in 2nd place in the AMCC with four conference games left on the schedule. Whitney Giedroc had a career day at the plate; she came up a single short of the cycle in the opener. Geidroc finished the day 4 for 4 with 4 walks, 4 runs scored, 3 RBI’s, 2 doubles, a triple, and an inside the park homerun. Carrie Shevock, who has been injured for most of conference play, got the start in the circle in game one. She only lasted 10 pitches as her oblique injury forced her out of the game early; she retired the side in the first inning. Jess Seasoltz came in in relief and stifled With the score tied 3-3 heading into the bottom of the 6th Renee Schmitt (who hit 2 HR’s on the day) recorded her first homerun of the season (an inside the parker down the left field line) which plated Whitney Shearer and gave the Mounties a 5-3 lead. Giedroc walked to load the bases with two gone in the bottom of the seventh and Shearer came through with the heroics. She hit a hard line drive to the shortstop who mishandled the ball, the flip to second was too late as Giedroc got in under the tag and Andie O’Neal scored the winning run as the Mounties took game one 6-5. Jess Seasoltz pitched a gem in game two as After a slow start the Mounties offense exploded in the late innings, scoring 8 runs between the 5th and 6th innings. Shearer hit a SAC fly to center field which scored Giedroc in the bottom of the 6th for the 9-1 lead and the Mounties eight-run ruled Softball has their bye week this week for conference play in the AMCC but will travel to
