| Game Notes: | CRESSON- In an AMCC conference thriller, the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team defeated visiting PSU-Behrend 86-81 in double overtime on Saturday afternoon. In a back-and-forth first half, neither side led by more than 8 as Behrend took a slight 29-27 lead into the break. The second half was more of the same as the Mount found itself up by four at 57-53 after two Olivia Rupp free throws with 4:44 on the clock. With 1:14 left, Rupp came up big once again as she converted on a layup plus the foul to provide a 63-60 advantage. PSU-Behrend responded as time wound down as Brianna Bayly hit a three-point shot with four seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. Bayly was again the hero in the first overtime session. After the Mount's Kaleigh Roop was good on two free throws with seven seconds left, Bayly nailed a jumper to bring on a second overtime session. The Mounties took over in the second overtime with a 9-0 run and held on down the stretch with tough defensive play. Lindsy Sammarco, who scored her 1,000th career point in the game, led the Mount with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Rupp also finished with a double-double as she recorded 18 points and 11 boards, and Becky Bard came up big with 26 points on 10-for-16 shooting and four steals. Julia Meyers paced PSU-Behrend with 26 points and 15 rebounds, and Bayly dropped 19 points on the day. With the win, the Mount improves to 12-7 overall, 7-5 in AMCC play. They now stand in fifth place, a half-game behind Pitt-Bradford for fourth place and a half-game ahead of Pitt-Greensburg. The Mount returns to action on Wednesday night when it hosts La Roche at 6 p.m. |
