ALTOONA- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team jumped all over host Penn State-Altoona in a 73-57 AMCC win on Wednesday evening.
The Mount quickly led by 12 early on after a three-point shot from Haley Bender provided a 17-5 advantage with 12:45 to go in the first half. The lead reached 32-8 after Morgan Brosnihan nailed a jumper with 7:21 to play, and the Mounties took a 17-point lead into the half.
The lead hovered around 20 for much of the second half as 10 Mount players hit the scoreboard in an all-around effort. Becky Bard led the way with a double-double as she recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Lindsy Sammarco also finished in double figures with 13 points and had five steals, while Alexis Restori contributed 12 points and five assists. Kaleigh Roop grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds off the bench.
Tamara Thomas registered 16 points and 12 boards for Altoona, and Moira Corrigan had 19 rebounds.
The Mount improves to 14-8 , 9-6 in AMCC play. They will face Pitt-Bradford at home Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
