Sammarco & Bard Get All-Conference Nods 02/26/2013
 

sammarco-bardPITTSBURGH--Local products Lindsy Sammarco and Becky Bard helped lead Mount Aloysius to its second consecutive trip to the A.M.C.C. tournament semi-finals, and the duo was awarded all-conference honors for their efforts.

Sammaro, a Bishop Carroll alum, was a first-team honoree.  She ranked third in the conference in scoring with 17.4 points per game, and was also fifth in free throw percentage (.772) and assists (3.6).  In all, the junior guard was ranked in the top ten in the A.M.C.C. in eight different statistical categories.
 
Sammarco became just the sixth player in program history to top the 1,000 point mark for her career in late January.  She is a two-sport all-conference selection for the Lady Mounties, earning all-league nods in both women's basketball and softball.

Bard, a Forest Hills grad, averaged 16.0 points per game, which ranked her fifth in the A.M.C.C. in scoring average.  She led the Lady Mounties in three-point field goals (1.5) and field goal percentage (.421).

The freshman point guard ranked eighth in the conference in steals (2.4) and made three pointers, and eleventh in field goal percentage. Bard was the highest scoring freshman in the A.M.C.C
