On July 18, 2011, Mount Aloysius Athletic Director Ryan Smith announced the hiring of former Altoona High School standout Kristi Little-Kaack as the College’s new women’s basketball coach.
Following a stellar career at Altoona High, where she finished as the school’s all-time leading scorer, Little-Kaack accepted a full scholarship to Duquesne University.
She was a three-year starting point guard for Coach Suzie McConnell-Serio’s Lady Dukes. Little-Kaack was named a first team All-Conference selection in 2009, and is only the second player in Atlantic 10 history to earn back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year honors.
“We are excited to hand the reigns of our women’s basketball program over to Kristi,” Smith said. “She had an outstanding career as a player, and we fully expect her to have the same kind of success as she transitions into the coaching ranks.”
Following her collegiate basketball career, she played one season of professional basketball in Baja Hungary. Little-Kaack spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach for the girls varsity basketball team at Bellwood-Antis High School.
