Bethany 6, Mount Aloysius 0
The Mount Aloysis women's soccer team stayed with visiting Bethany in the first half before falling in their home opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Mounties stayed with the visiting Bison early on with strong defensive pressure. A Bethany goal 18:38 into the game gave the Bison a 1-0 lead. Later in the half, the Mounties had their best chance of the game. Sophomore midfielder Liz Josephson intercepted a clearance attempt by the Bison goalie, but her shot was saved and Bethany took a one goal lead into halftime.
Bethany showed their depth and pulled away in the second half as Mount Aloysius began to tire. The Bison recorded three goals in a ten-minute span and took the victory.
Senior Lara Appiah, a field player for the past three seasons as a Mountie, stepped up in goal and recorded 12 saves. She kept the Mounties in the game early with a number of tremendous stops.
