| Parker's Two Goals Not Enough to Lift Mounties | 09/13/2012 |

Megan Parker had a breakout performance with two goals, but Mount Aloysius dropped a back-and-forth game to Penn College. Parker gave Mount Aloysius a much-needed boost at home as she converted a breakaway opportunity 18 minutes into the game to give the Mounties an early 1-0 lead against Penn College. However, Penn responded with two goals of its own, both coming from Valeria Passalacqua, four and six minutes later. The visitors would hold that 2-1 advantage until halftime. Parker's day wasn't done as she got past the Penn defense three minutes into the second half to equalize things at 2-2 off an assist courtesy of Emily Burget. Both sides continued to create chances near goal, and Penn took the lead with 15 minutes left on a goal by Cayla Easley. With ten seconds left on the clock, a Mountie corner kick was cleared off the line by a Penn defender and the Wildcats snuck away with a 3-2 win. The Mounties welcomed freshman goalie Lauren Challingsworth back from injury. She came on to replace Lara Appiah 14 minutes into the game and stopped six shots in her collegiate debut. Midfielders Caitlin Greiner and Burget both had strong second halves, and junior defender Tonya Bibby returned from injury to lead the Mountie defense. |
