After holding the lead strong for 76 minutes, the Mount Aloysius women's soccer team surrendered two goals late and fell to Pitt-Greensburg 2-1 in AMCC action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mounties were strong on the counterattack early and struck first when Liz Josephson got behind the defense on a Caitlin Greiner throughball at the 27:26 mark of the first half. Josephson went 1-on-1 with the keeper and slotted her second goal of the season into the bottom lefthand corner.The Mount held on to the 1-0 lead heading into half with some strong defensive play by Tonya Bibby, Lara Appiah and Nicole Schweinsberg.
Mount Aloysius continued to defend late into the second half, but Greensburg's Courtney Carroll and Jenna Biddle scored nine minutes apart at the 76th and 85th minute marks to provide a 2-1 advantage for the home team. Mount Aloysius had one more chance, but Megan Parker's shot from distance was saved.
Lauren Challingsworth made four stops in net for the Mounties.
