In their season finale, the Mount Aloysius women's soccer team lost 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon in AMCC play to Franciscan on the road.
The Mount let up three goals in the first half against a strong Francisan attack. However, led by Liz Josephson and Tonya Bibby, the Mount put forth a tremendous effort in the second period of play and got on the board at the 55:19 mark to make it a 3-1 game on an unassisted breakaway goal by Josephson.
Franciscan would respond as Katherine Roemer slotted home her second goal of the day to make it 4-1 with 16 minutes to play. Josephson would have two more opportunities on the offensive end, but the Mount couldn't complete the comeback attempt.
Tuesday's game marked the final game for six players: Bibby, Nicole Schweinsberg, Emily Burget, Lara Appiah, Katelyn Shull and Pamela Pride. All six have represented the soccer program and the school in splendid fashion during their Mount soccer careers. In total, the six players have appeared in a combined 292 games and made 256 starts in the Mountie uniform.
