This policy applies to all web pages that are stored on Mount Aloysius College owned servers. All staff, faculty, and students have the opportunity to create their own web page, which will reside on the College servers. Those individuals interested in posting web pages must contact the helpdesk or email helpdesk@mtaloy.edu for specific instructions. When material is placed on the World Wide Web, you are publishing it for anyone in the world to read. Publishing personal information such as your address or telephone number may attract unwanted attention. The web page, however, must include a mechanism for contacting the pages author either as a "mailto:" link or as simple text on all web pages. Individual web pages must include "The views and opinions expressed in this page are strictly those of the page author. The contents of this page have not been reviewed or approved by Mount Aloysius College." All web authors are limited to 20MB of space on the server for web pages. Individual file size is limited to 1MB. Pages will be removed from the web server when the individual is no longer a registered student or employed by the College. Pages that interfere with the management and operation of Mount Aloysius College’s education mission, operation of the Information Technology Department, or electronic mail services may be removed at the discretion of the Director of Information Technology, or the Director of Marketing and Public Relations. Web sites that display or distribute materials that violate copyrights, patent protections, or license agreements are strictly prohibited. Pages that display pornographic material are also strictly prohibited. Advertising, libelous materials, and any communications which violate applicable laws and regulations are prohibited and will be removed. Because of questions surrounding the legality of some MP3, music files or video files, students are discouraged from storing MP3 files, video files, or music files in their web pages. Web authors are warned that if these files are discovered in their web pages, those files may be removed and/or proper authorities may be notified. Individuals may not automatically direct electronic mail to anyone without that person’s written permission. In addition, links to campus resources must be approved in writing by the Public Relations and Marketing department. Mount Aloysius College resources may not be used to create web pages primarily for personal business or personal gain, except as permitted by other College policies. Personal web page authors are not permitted to use the Mount Aloysius College logo or any other text or design element in such a way as would imply that their personal pages are institutional resources of the College. Mount Aloysius College maintains no responsibility and no liability for files in a student’s web page. To setup a personal web page user must simply create a folder called PUBLIC_HTML on their "I" drive. Then the user must name the first page INDEX.HTM. The personal web page URL will be http://mypage.mtaloy.edu/~userid For example if your user id is abcfa1 the URL is http://mypage.mtaloy.edu/~abcfa1 All general questions regarding this policy can be emailed to the Mount Aloysius College Information Technology Services Department at helpdesk@mtaloy.edu Complaints about the content of material published should be directed to webmaster@mtaloy.edu who will notify the publisher of the web page and gather appropriate information relevant to the complaint. Students found in violation of this policy or any other Computer policies are subject to the College’s conduct process as outlined in this Student Handbook.
Student Clubs are encouraged to create and maintain Official Club web pages. Two representatives from each Club should contact the Website Communications Associate or the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at marketing@mtaloy.edu to obtain training to create and maintain each Club page. A member of the Marketing and Public Relations staff will approve every club page. Each club must use one of the pre-determined templates that include the official College logo. Photos and video may be placed on club pages. All photos and videos will be reviewed prior to publishing. To view a club page, please view http://www.mtaloy.edu/student_life/clubs_andorganizations/
