Mount Aloysius College has three networked color laser printers available for use by staff and students for Mount Aloysius College academic purposes in the Main Administration Building. Although suitable for printing multiple copies, printers are not copiers and no more than 10 copies of any document, Web page, assignment, etc. should be printed from any printer on campus. If multiple copies are required, copy machines are available for this purpose. Copiers are available in the Library. The color laser printers are located in the following classrooms (Main Administration Building 215, 217, and Buhl Lab) and are intended for the classes in progress; please be considerate and do not print during class time. Whenever possible, print in grayscale to save the color toner, toner cartridges are quite expensive. Class times will be posted on the door to each lab. If there are no classes scheduled, you may login to the lab machine and print yr material. Additional network printers are available in the Library, Academic Hall, the Perkins lab, and Academic Services. Maintenance of these printers can get very expensive if the policy below is not followed. If cost (number of toner cartridges used) becomes prohibitive, the policy will become more restrictive. Please respect the equipment so it can remain in good working order for years to come. Additional maintenance to these printers will be required if they are abused. This inconvenience will impact all users and may include extended printing downtime, reassigning of printers, or removal of printers until repairs can be made.
All printouts to network printers are monitored. If large quantities of the same document are noticed, or several print jobs from the same user, in a short amount of time, users will be notified via e-mail that printing rights to Mount Aloysius College network printers may occur. The Mount Aloysius College Information Technology Department will provide plain paper only to the labs in the Main Administration Building. The Library, Perkins, and Educational Enrichment will supply paper and supplies in their respective areas. Any special papers need to be provided by the students. Each semester every student will be encouraged to use only the given allotment of 400 pages. This allotment is reset every semester in which you are enrolled. During any semester if your total number of pages reaches 300 pages, you will be sent a warning notification via your Mount Aloysius College e-mail account that your limit is rapidly approaching. You will receive this notice after every print job over the 300 mark, which you send to the printer. If you reach the 400-page limit, all printing services will be automatically disabled. You will be required to stop in the Information Technology Center on the 2nd floor of the Main Administration Building to request an additional 100 pages. Increments will only be granted in 100 pages and will not roll to the next semester.
