Dr. Jessica Jost-Costanzo began her journey in higher education in the field of Anthropology, earning her B.A. in Anthropology from Catholic University in 1992. She furthered her interest in the study of humanity, though, not by pursuing Anthropology as a graduate student but, rather, English literature. Her love of literature continued to inspire her. In 2001, she earned her M.A. from Duquesne University in English Literature, and in 2009, she completed her Ph.D. at Duquesne. She also holds a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies.

Her area of specialization is eighteenth-century British Literature, and her secondary interests are varied. She has studied and/or taught in the following areas: textual studies, digital humanities, rhetoric and composition, fantasy literature, the graphic novel, and literature by women.

Dr. Jess, as she is affectionately known at Mount Aloysius College, is the faculty advisor to The Belltower—the digital student newspaper. She serves as the faculty advisor to the Comic Book Club, which sponsors an on-campus comic book conference each fall, known as the MAC Charity Con; the club also makes annual trips to the Pittsburgh Steel City Con.

Dr. Jess has served on Inaugural, Middle States, Curriculum, Faculty Affairs, IRB, and many ad hoc committees.
