The Board of Trustees of Mount Aloysius College invites nominations and applications for the position of President.  A private, comprehensive, co-educational, Catholic liberal arts and science-based institution with a commitment to career-directed study, Mount Aloysius is one of sixteen Sisters of Mercy-sponsored colleges and universities.  Deeply rooted in Catholic tradition and the values of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Mount Aloysius offers programs in accounting, allied health, applied technology, biology, business administration, computer science, education, information technology, legal studies, liberal arts, general science, nursing, sign language/interpreter education, among others. Fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the College awards associate and baccalaureate degrees in more than 50 majors and Master's degrees in Business Administration, Community Counseling, Criminal Justice, Management in Correctional Administration, Education, General Psychology, and Health and Human Services Administration to a student population of 1200 full-time and 400 part-time students.  Mount Aloysius is a member of the Conference for Mercy Higher Education, a national organization of higher educational institutions sponsored by the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

Described as "a gem nestled in the Alleghenies," Mount Aloysius has flourished under the transformational leadership of its President, Sister Mary Ann Dillon, RSM.   Under her guiding hand, the College has expanded its academic offerings to 17 Bachelor's degree and six Master's degree programs, increased enrollment of traditional freshman by more than 500 percent, increased its student residential population, and seen tremendous growth in technology and other learning tools such as robotic simulations for nursing and a sign language laboratory.  The most visible changes have resulted from the implementation of the Campus Master Plan, which has led to significant investment in the beautification of the 165-acre campus. Sister Mary Ann has presided over a period of growth in enrollment, academic rigor, and financial stability, leaving the College well positioned when she steps down on June 30, 2010 after leading the College for 13 years.

The next President will need to continue this tradition of providing energetic and committed leadership of a growing institution while continuing to build a culture of care, concern, and mutual respect.  The President is directly accountable to the Board of Trustees for leading Mount Aloysius in ways that are grounded in its Catholic heritage and Mercy values.  By directing the academic, administrative, and fiscal life of the College, the President provides leadership for all of Mount Aloysius's constituencies in promoting the spiritual life, intellectual standards, and commitment to community, diversity, and service that define the College's unique character.
