About

The Mount Aloysius High School Leadership Institute is a 3 day leadership program for outstanding high school students ages 16-18. The program combines hands-on education, meaningful service, local accomplished speakers and seminars, and an unforgettable learning experience that students will describe as a “powerful learning experience.”

Our Mount Aloysius Leadership Institute will be offered to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The Institute staff has created an environment that will include instruction emphasizing a leadership development curriculum, participation in experiences that benefit both the community and the students through service. Institute staff is committed to highlighting the importance of community leadership and how it impacts tomorrow’s future

All sessions will be held at Mount Aloysius College when not engaged in a site visit. The participants will receive instruction on subjects like networking, character building, leadership and management styles and internships.

Mount Aloysius will create and manage a closed Facebook group for participants so that discussions and shared activities can continue outside of the program. Information on social media group will be distributed at the 1st session in June 28th.

Timeline

Wednesday, June 28

Following check-in, this day will consist of a series of icebreakers, an introduction to the Camp and a discussion about the significance of leadership. Throughout the day, participants will engage in fun, interactive activities aimed at getting to know their fellow campers and developing basic leadership tools.

Thursday, June 29

Student-leaders will visit community partners throughout Cambria County. There, they can experience the culture of the area, make valuable connections and meet prominent leaders who are active in our local communities.

Friday, June 30

Personal values are internal drivers that help us stay on track throughout our lives. This day we’ll learn more about values and their role in leadership development. Student-leaders will also practice conflict resolution and goal-setting, using techniques introduced throughout the past two days. We will conclude with a wrap-up of the Camp and a group picnic in recognition of the participants’ hard work and growth over the course of the Camp.
