What is Service-Learning?
Service-Learning at Mount Aloysius College is a method of instruction in which students learn the content of the curriculum while actively participating in and reflecting on experiences that benefit both the community and the students. A service-learning position paper (Service-Learning Plan) was affirmed by the faculty in October 2005 in which this definition of service learning is articulated as well as statements regarding
- The relevance of service-learning to Mount Aloysius College (MAC)
- Different models of service-learning
- The approach that should be taken at MAC
- A proposed timeline for implementation
Mount Aloysius College continues to develop its service-learning program through a Service-Learning Committee, monies available for service learning projects, or an annual Service-Learning Expo.
Please direct all inquiries regarding service learning to Service-Learning Committee Chair, Dr. Patricia Meintel, at email@example.com
