Cresson, PA – The Mount Aloysius men’s and women’s soccer programs were both honored recently for their work in the classroom as each program earned the United Soccer Coaches 2016-2017 College Team Academic Award.
A total of 824 soccer teams (286 men, 538 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year. Of that total, only 202 schools in the entire country had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized.
The women’s program earned the award for the third consecutive year with a team GPA of 3.15, while the men’s program earned a 3.02 team GPA to earn the award for the first time in program history.
“I’m very proud of both programs for earning this award. The honor for both our teams speaks to their dedication in the classroom, despite many of our student-athletes being in challenging majors on campus,” Head Coach¬†Matt Davis¬†said.
