Sid Bream, from Liberty University, was drafted in the second round in 1981 by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is remembered for scoring the winning run with a slide into home in 1992, beating the Pirates and sending the Braves to the World Series. Bream’s career includes play for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1983-1985); Pittsburgh Pirates (1985-1990); Atlanta Braves (1991-1993); and the Houston Astros (1994).
He played in four consecutive national League play-offs; one with the Pittsburgh Pirates and three with the Braves. He played in two World Series with the Braves.
The Annual Mount Aloysius College Golf outing begins with breakfast and registration at 9:00 a.m. A shotgun start is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. The format is a four person scramble, flighted by handicap. An outdoor steak barbeque and awards presentations caps the event.

Golf Committee officials state that there are still several levels of sponsorship available and cautioned that foursomes for the event fill up quickly. Mrs. Jennifer Dubuque, vice president for institutional advancement at Mount Aloysius College noted that all proceeds for the popular event fund student scholarships at the College. “There are sponsorship levels ranging from Platinum at $5000; Gold at $2500; Silver at $1000; Bronze Sponsorship at $500; and Individual Golfers at $200. There are also opportunities to sponsor the celebrity tee, on-course snack cart, putting greens, the registration table and individual holes,” she said. “The cause is great—helping a worthy student get through college—and the day promises to be great fun,” she said. “It’s a fun way to start a summer weekend.”
