Why Study Secondary Education at Mount Aloysius College?

At Mount Aloysius College, we prepare you for any field you want to pursue. In coordination with our Biology, English, General Science, and History/Political Science programs, you can receive certification in secondary education to teach the next generation of scholars.

What do Secondary Education Teachers do?

Secondary educators work with young adult students at the high school level to prepare them for college and beyond. Within this program at Mount Aloysius, students who want to become secondary educators need to specialize in the subject they wish to teach, such as Biology, English, general sciences, and social studies.

Possible Careers

Most high school teachers work in either public or private schools. Some teach in public magnet and charter schools. Others teach in private religious or secular schools.

Who will teach me?

The Education department is comprised of full-time faculty who hold doctorate degrees in their disciplines. Bringing their varied educational backgrounds into the classroom, students are provided with extensive knowledge of the secondary education field.

Available Concentrations and Specializations Internship Opportunities
The Bachelor’s degree has student teaching assignments.  Junior students tutor students in math and or reading as part of coursework. Student teaching and tutoring placements occur in local schools and child care centers.
