Mount Aloysius College offers flexible and affordable options to start your Physical Therapy degree on campus and pursue a higher degree at a number of related institutions with departmental support and guidance.

Mount Aloysius College offers an affordable and practical first step toward your career as a Physical Therapist.  Students will successfully complete the Pre-Physical Therapy phase at Mount Aloysius College where the end result is a Bachelor Degree in General Science/Pre-Physical Therapy. During the student’s senior year the department chair will prepare the student to make application at the colleges and universities where the student desires to enroll in the professional phase of the program to complete two or three additional years of study for the Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.   The department chair will advise students well by the conclusion of the freshmen year if a student is Physical Therapy bound.

Colleges and universities where Mount Aloysius College students enroll for the professional phase include:  Arcadia University, Chatham University, Duquesne University, Misericordia University, Neumann University, Saint Francis University, Slippery Rock University, and Thomas Jefferson University, among others

What do PTs Do?

Physical Therapists can help patients reduce pain and increase mobility. They can help patients manage their condition by providing exercises and techniques that can be done in the home on the patient’s own terms. They can also help patients to develop fitness and wellness oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Physical Therapists are needed in more locations than physician offices, including:

  • Local, state and private hospitals
  • Home healthcare services
  • Nursing and residential care facilities

Who will teach me?

The Health Studies and Science and Mathematics Departments are comprised of full-time faculty who hold doctorate and bachelor’s degrees in their disciplines. The faculty in this program prepares the student towards their ultimate goal of earning their Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy after earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Aloysius College.
