Why Study to become a Physician Assistant at Mount Aloysius College?
Mount Aloysius offers an affordable and practical first step towards your future as a physician assistant. Under a joint agreement between Chatham University, Mercy College and Mount Aloysius College, undergraduate students who have successfully completed specific core course requirements at Mount Aloysius College may continue their education in physician assistant at one of the cooperative schools in this program of study. A student can choose between 3 or 4 years at Mount Aloysius completing various requirements and then complete the program of study at Chatham University or Mercy College.
What do Physician Assistants do?
Physician assistants obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, diagnose illness and develop treatment strategies, order and interpret lab tests, counsel patients on preventative health, perform various medical procedures, assist in surgical operations and in most states can write prescriptions.
Physician Assistants work in a plethora of locations, including:
- Offices of physicians
- Outpatient care centers
- Educational services

Who will teach me?
The Health Studies and Science and Mathematics Departments are comprised of full-time faculty who hold Doctorate and Bachelor’s Degrees in their disciplines. The faculty in this program provides the aspiring Physician Assistant students with a solid foundation to achieve their career goals through a Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Aloysius College.
