Mount Aloysius Nurses Excel At State, National Testing

Cresson, Pa. – Mount Aloysius College Nursing Division graduates have exceeded the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) average pass rates at both the state and national levels. The NCLEX results reflect first-time test-takers between Oct. 1, 2012, and Sept. 30, 2013, which is the most current data available.

Deaf Gathering at Mount Aloysius An Educational Social Event

Cresson, Pa. – Last year a creative idea blossomed into a tradition for Mount Aloysius College. The idea was to create a much needed social engagement opportunity for members of Central and Southwestern Pennsylvania’s deaf community. The event—The Deaf Gathering—was a success on many fronts but the educational opportunity for students of American Sign Language/English Interpreting is enormous. “The Deaf Gathering,” is typically held on select Friday evenings at Mount Aloysius College.

Mount Aloysius Dual Enrollment Efforts Earn FNB Support

Cresson, Pa. – First National Bank of Pennsylvania, (FNB) has made a contribution to Mount Aloysius College in support of the college’s extensive Dual Enrollment Program. The gift of over $5000 was made under Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program.

Mount Aloysius Business Students Net Accounting Interviews

Cresson, Pa. – Three Mount Aloysius College business students earned interviews through the recent Accounting Consortium held late last month in Pittsburgh. One hundred and fifty students from 11 area colleges took part in the Accounting Consortium. Held in Pittsburgh’s Embassy Suites, several top accounting firms select area business students for interviews based upon resumes. The interviews were held to staff either full-time positions or accounting internships. The Mount Aloysius College students walked away with several interview opportunities each.

Mount Aloysius Invites You to “Block Out” Cancer at Annual Pink Out

Cresson, Pa. – Pressing the message that early detection of breast cancer is the best road to a cure; Mount Aloysius College is joining forces with Windber Medical Center’s Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center. The public is invited to the “Pink Out” Volleyball game scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held in the Mount Aloysius Athletic Health and Fitness Center on campus as the Lady Mountie take on Franciscan University.

Mount Aloysius Names Tyler Sheikh AAD and Sports Information Director

Cresson, Pa.-Mount Aloysius College has announced the appointment of Tyler Sheikh as Assistant Athletic Director, where he will be responsible for all aspects of sports marketing and NCAA compliance. Mt Aloysius President Tom Foley said that Sheikh “brings excellent writing skills and a strong work ethic to his new post and has hit the ground running in his new assignment, just as he did when he took on the job of coaching both men’s and women’s soccer last year.”

Mount Aloysius Launches Autism-Oriented Behavioral Consulting Master Program

Cresson, Pa. – Mount Aloysius College is expanding its graduate programs to meet emerging community need in treating clients with autism-spectrum disorders. Their new Master of Science in Behavioral Specialist Consulting consists of 36-credits and offers students a path to obtain needed licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Behavioral Specialist.

Homecoming Weekend Caps Mercy Week at Mount Aloysius College

Cresson, Pa. – Mount Aloysius College, one of 16 colleges in the United States serving under the auspices of the Sisters of Mercy, will celebrate Mercy Week from September 23rd through September 29th. The week will be marked by time-honored Mercy traditions inspired by 186 years of service throughout the world. Mount Aloysius, founded in 1853, invites the community to celebrate the Mercy heritage that began in Dublin, Ireland on Sept. 24, 1827. On that day, the feast of Our Lady of Mercy, Catherine McAuley first opened the doors of her House of Mercy to the public on Baggot Street in Dublin.
