"We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” (1 John 4:19-21)

Loving God means loving people, and loving people means making a difference for God.

We need people who show up for us in the crucial moments, people who will help us find our way, people who will help us up when we fall, people who will do what they can to make our life better.  We don’t need perfect people; we just need people who love God and love us.

Denver Moore, a homeless man, put it well in the book, What Difference Do It Make. “Needy people don’t need no perfect people.  When Jesus sent the disciples out, He sent Peter right along, knowing that Peter had a bad temper and was going to deny Him three times.  He sent John and James even though they were full of pride and fighting over the best seat in the house.  He even sent Judas, knowing Judas was gon’ betray Him.  Listen, if the devil ain’t messing with you, he’s already got you.  If you is waiting to clean up your own life before you get out to help somebody else, you may as well take off your shoes and climb back in bed.”

Let’s put on our shoes and start loving God by serving others.
