Mount Aloysius College believes students should be aware of their rights and responsibilities when leasing an apartment off-campus. Pennsylvania has a Landlord-Tenant Law that defines the rights and responsibilities of both tenants and landlords. The following websites provide detailed information regarding this law:

To assist you in determining whether a specific apartment is right for you, we have developed a Renter's Checklist with questions to ask your prospective landlord and other issues for you to consider when thinking about leasing. It is also important that you thoroughly read a lease agreement before signing it and retain a copy for your records. If you are planning on sharing an apartment with someone else, you and your apartment mate(s) should clearly understand how you will share expenses and what each person must pay each month.
The College does not maintain a list of available rental properties. Local listings may be obtained through the Cresson Mainliner, Johnstown Tribune Democrat and Altoona Mirror newspapers. Area realtors may also have listings of rental properties.
