MethodologyMethodology
This was a prospective, experimental study with two intervention groups. The rural patient population included diabetic patients within the Conemaugh Health System service area in West Central Pennsylvania. Potential participants were identified, screened, and randomized into one of two groups--one group received the gain-framed foot care module and the other group received the loss-framed foot care module.
The study investigated whether a relationship exists between individual patient characteristics and the type of framed message most effective for resulting in improved foot care behaviors in adults with Type II Diabetes.
