MethodologyMethodology
The intervention involved a faculty demonstration of patient assessment skills with the use of telehealth devices such as a digital stethescope and dermascope from a SMART Classroom at the main campus. Both the SMART CLassroom and the remote classroom were equipped with videoconferencing capabilities. Students performed return demonstrations of assessment skills that were observed by faculty from a distance.
In order to develop, implement and evaluate the array of technologies used within the health assessment course a set of User Scenarios and User Test Scenarios were developed for each module that was taught remotely. Subjects consisted of a convenience sample of RN to BSN students enrolled in an offsite Nursing Health Assessment course in the Summer 2006.
